Corrine, are you my twin? I have also been accused of being blunt,

direct, opinionated, and some times a little rude. I was a customer

service rep and believed in being as honest as company policy would

allow. It is truly amazing how some people just don't want to hear it.

I would finally have to ask if they would prefer that I lied about it or

told them the truth. Most finally agreed they would prefer the truth and

would then decide to listen. It has taken some time to learn diplomacy.

I usually can do it much better in writing then over the phone or in

person but I'm working on it. Fay, just don't let it get you down. Your

right about needing to keep the job. Maybe you could email somebody when

you are trying to be yourself. I found that I got in less trouble that

way.

Oh, there are LOTS of us like that on here...........we all get to take the

lumps from time to time. Dull and boring, it's not. But sometimes it hurts

pretty badly.

I've been known to have people misunderstand me. Admittedly, I have an

extremely warped sense of humor and will find something funny in almost

all situations. For me it has always been a survival thing I guess. Also

have noticed that since the wls and renewed self esteem, etc. pretty

much what's on the lung is on the tongue with me. Find I speak my mind

more often than I did prior to the surgery. Sometimes it's a good thing,

other times, well......

Also wanted to share with you. Had a paper due on self esteem for my

communications class and it had to be from your own personal experience.

Professor told me that if she could have given me anything higer than an

A+ she would have. She was so impressed with the paper that she asked my

permission to photocopy it and hand it out to the other students in the

class. I go to school during the day with the 19 and 20 year old kids

and she felt my paper would give them a better perspective of what life

is like away from " mommy and daddy's " protective environment. I was

extremely flattered and gave her my permission. I was very excited and

just wanted to share it with all of you.

Thanks.

Regina, Congrats on the recognition you received for your paper. One of the

best parts of going to school with young uns for me, was that when I sat in

the lunchroom, the young studlies wanted to talk to me. They liked what I

had to say. Where were they when I was their age?

Regina,

That is so neat to have your work appreciated. It's funny, when

I decided to return to school I was 33. I felt so old. The program I

was in had the class move together through the last half of the program.

With the exception of 3 students in their early 20's, I was the youngest

in the class. The oldest being about 55. It was really rewarding

because we became each others support.
