Guest guest
I really think you need another surgeon. Many of us have had our staple line disruptions fixed. I would definately not have a hernia repair seperately from the staple line revision. There is no need to go through two surgeries. Have you talked to (VitaLady) about this? She may be able to give you some pointers. I realize I cannot give medical advice. But from my experience, I think something is fishy. BarbaraJean distal from 300 to 128 Ventral Hernia Hi Everyone, Thank you to those that privately emailed me about my hernia questions. I have new info as of today. I have a Ventral Hernia and my staple line has " broken down " . My surgery will be April 30th. When I spoke with Dr Brems today he stated that to fix the broken down staples would be too dangerous because of chances of infection and peritonitus (sp??). But he did promise he would take a look and see what he could do. What I didn't know was that I have 12 rows of staples! 12! OMG!! How the he** did they break down?? So now I feel like I never had surgery at all. I am so terrified of anestesia that I don't want to have the hernia repaired. But the pain in my stomach isn't very much fun. My question is, " Since the food is going into the bottom of my stomach, how is it getting out? " Also, I asked him about the size of my stoma. He said it was okay. I will have an appt. the Friday before surgery to ask any questions. I'm not sure what to ask. Any help is EXTREMELY appreciated. BTW, I am terrified. Thank you. Hugs, Cheri. PS. I had really bad Gerd before RNY and surgery fixed it completely.

No way would I want to have another surgery with SLD unless they could fix it. Kinda like closing the earn door after the horse has escaped. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc. Guest guest
I agree with BarbaraJean. I had my staple line fixed, too. I don't know your doctor's reasoning for not transecting, but I would check with another surgeon, too. Just be sure to go to someone extremely experienced with WLS. Being in the NYC 'burbs, I opted to go into the City to the top lap surgeon in the area, Dr. Gagner, as I was warned that it is a riskier surgery than the first time out, and he was even able to do it laparoscopically. Of course, I didn't have a hernia, but I don't see why it can't be done at the same time. in NJ ************************** > I really think you need another surgeon.
