Guest guest
Hi. I havent posted in a while b/c I was in a standstill with switching orthodontists and surgeons before i got started with this whole thing. Well I go tomorrow to get molds/xrays done at the orthodontist...then i go over to the surgeon to get some more molds done..yippy (j/k) I really hate molds. But at least I am getting somewhere. To reinform all of you again... I am an 18 yr old female in my first year of college(living at home still). I had braces twice already. Have had them off for 4 1/2 years now. That orthodontist never said a word about surgery in the future being a possibility. He just yelled at me that I couldnt possibly be doing everything i was supposed to be doing. Then when i had a growth spurt, my jaw i guess grew too much and made my bite even worse. Only my back 8 molars altogether touch in my mouth when i bite down. I have an open/over bite with a recessive chin. The surgeon said he would move my upper jaw up into my face more, then bring my lower jaw foward to meet and then i guess its called a genio (slide chin bone foward, no implant, just bone). I am mentally prepared for this surgery i think for now anyways. I am actually dreading the braces being on again more than the surgery lol. My orthodontist is going to give me 6 clear brackets in front and then switch them out right before surgery for safety. He said that if a clear one was to fall off and down into my lung, they wouldnt be able to find it. So I will have metal just for surgery then possibly change them back to clear. My orthodontist said that he should have no problem getting me ready for surgery this summer (05). I have to work around college so this was good to hear. My one question is that I am a dance teacher..how long will it take me to feel up to at least coming back to my classes. And then how long till i would feel up to teaching full out and talking for a whole class? I just want to be ready for the fall classes when they start up. And also..has anyone had this surgery tremendously help dried, chapped, peeling lips in the long run? I know they get really dry right after surgery, but Im assuming that once my lips close and i breathe through my nose, my lips wont bother me soo much. OK...I think thats all I have to say now. Wish me luck tomorrow...Pray that I dont gag 52 hundred times!! lol ~~

Guest guest
, I had surgery Oct12 upper only for a gummy smile. My lips were always craked, bleeding and and chapped because I couldn't close my lips. Since the surgery my lips having been so soft and not chapped its a great feeling to be able to close my lips without effort. Good luck with your surgery. -- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , sweetpearl862003 <no_reply@y...> wrote: > > Hi.
