Guest guest
Hello everyone, I have been in pre surgery orthodontics for 9 1/2 months. When I first started the orthodontics I had two teeth removed. I was told they would not normally remove those teeth which I think were the first (being the front) molars on each side (the ones you do your real chewing on...Anyway I was wondering what teeth if any you all had removed...Oh and keep it simple as I have no idea what a bicuspid is...!!! Guest guest
The first orthodontist I saw wanted to take out one of the center teeth on my lower jaw. I ended up getting a second and third opinion and went with an orthodontist that did not want to pull any teeth at all. I'm 4 weeks post-op on Tuesday, and the ortho is now doing quite a bit of work moving around my lower teeth to fix their alignment now. I imagine this would have been easier if a tooth were removed, but I don't like the idea of removing perfectly good teeth if it's not absolutely necessary (and this is just me, I know it makes this type of work much easier a lot of the time). So, the answer to your question: one of the lower middle teeth right in front had I went with the other orthodontist. -Jen > Hello everyone, > > I have been in pre surgery orthodontics for 9 1/2 months. Guest guest
Hi , I have been in braces for almost seven months, and was told from the start that I may need to have two teeth extracted. In July my ortho booked an appointment with my dentist for these extractions. Needless to say I was quite disappointed. I called him back at his office, once the idea sunk in, and he further explained why this needed to be done. I told him I was in no hurry, and would be prepared to try all I could to save these teeth, working with him . He explained that my surgeon, whom I have a lot of confidence in, requested these extractions. I believe it has to do with the amount of movement that is needed in the surgery to follow. The extractions allow for more safer and greater movements - larger advancement ( less chance of a relapse) as well as esthetics. I remember during my first consult with my surgeon, that he seemed more concerned with my lower jaw and chin, saying this has to be fixed. I am having my upper raised and possibly advanced, and my lower advanced. I will also need genio. I have a very recessed lower jaw and chin, and perhaps this is why. The lower teeth extracted in August were bicuspids. Starting from the lower middle front teeth, these teeth are the fourth one to the left and fouth one to the right. I am still disappointed but have to trust the surgeon and his decision. He has a great reputation, and he knows better than myself. Guest guest
I have to have the front three teeth removed, the front upper right tooth I was born missing(the bud...yes we are all born missing teeth..but not the buds) so there are three teeth left and those will be removed because of root damage from the position my teeth were left in after the first orthadontist. If they arn't then they will fall out. so I will have two implants and the front two teeth will be a bridge. (they need so much bone per implant for it to anchor well and for astehic reasons. I also had two baby teeth on the bottm jaw pulled because there was no adult tooth behind them, baby teeth are larger and take more space so those are now implants. and I will have another implant where there was once again, no tooth bud. that one is in the upper jaw molor. > > Hello everyone, > > > > I have been in pre surgery orthodontics for 9 1/2 months.
