Guest guest
Dee Dee, you sound like you are doing pretty good. Try to be patient with the slow way we have to introduce foods. I was able to start salads and vegtables at 8 weeks. The first time I had a baby carrot,I chewed it up real fine, but it felt like a rock in my stomach. About 2 weeks later I had a salad. Boy did it taste good. I usually have some sort of chicken turkey or ham on the salad, wit some cheese. Yum Yum. Guest guest
Dee Dee, 50# is fabulous! So happy for you! As to the amount of protein suggested, it's going to vary. At 6 weeks post-op my doctor says 50-60 gms. a day. I had toast at 3-4 weeks, only about 1/4 slice of hearty wheat bread. It was fine, and have it with an egg. Just don't use white bread. For breakfast besides the eggs and cream of wheat, I have yogurt or cottage cheese with a little fruit. Someone on here suggested Carnation Instant Breakfast, sugar-free. I had it yesterday and it was a welcome change. As to veggies and salads. My dietician had me start with easy fruits (bananas, melon) and veggies (peas, carrots)the 3rd week. I also started salad the 4th week. These are what I was given to eat, but everyone has different recommendations. At 7 weeks, I still haven't tried red meats (except a little hamburger), and did feel icky after pork chops. Do you have a list of foods from your doctor?
