Guest guest
Hi There, My name is Jackie and my 16 year old son is going to be having upper and lower jaw surgery next spring and truthfully I'm freaking out about it now. I'm having bad dreams etc and I don't know if I've made the right decision. That's why I'm here. They were going to do the surgery at Xmas time but we decided to wait until his hockey season was over. He has a really small lower jaw and an open bite. The orthodontist is really pleased with how things are going. I just have to make peace with my decision because I can't be this stressed about it for the next six months. Guest guest
What is he thinking about all this? How does he feel? What's the ortho thinking the treathment will be (how many, if he does, weeks will he be wired, braces duration after surgery, etc.) ? It's normal to fear the unknown. It would be easier for us to help if you'd let us know what precisely is frightning you. Ray

Guest guest
Hi...I'm a Canadian living in exile in California, well, not really exile but we've been here 7.5 years. Just had upper/lower jaw/chin done at Stanford on Sept 8th. Your son will be lucky to have you to look after him after he gets this done. I'm sure you'll both be happy with the results. He's young and will probably heal faster. Get those zip-n-seal bags for liquids and strained food, they really were a lifesaver and they also have a recipe book that helped me as well. Don't even try the blended pizza, it's nasty. Keep us posted. Guest guest
Hi Jackie, I had a lower advancement and genioplasty done Sept 15 at Mt. Sinai in Toronto. I was discharged the next day and back at work in a week. I'm 54 yrs old. Your son's procedure is more involved than mine but I think he will be fine considering his age. Any questions, let me know > > Hi There, > > My name is Jackie and my 16 year old son is going to be having upper > and lower jaw surgery next spring and truthfully I'm freaking out > about it now. Guest guest
Hi , and thanks I'm sure as the time gets closer I will have lots of questions. I do believe the best thing is to just get as much info (good and bad).
