Guest guest
Hi All, It's been a while since I've logged on here, life has been way hectic. I had my surgery 02-12-03, it's almost been a year. I can't quite believe that. I was 360 and am now 220 lbs. (140 lost) I went into the ER last night with my second bout of biliary colic. Last time I was discharged with vicodin, this time ibuprofen. Just wondering if anyone else out there is suffering from the same problem or is someone knows of a preventative. I'm not really interested in having my gallbladder taken out at this point. I'm told to stay away from fatty foods at the ER, the ironic thing is I do avoid fatty foods as per the diet regimine of GB patients. They actually discharged me with instructions to eat only fat-free crackers and egg whites last night. I questioned that and was met with rude treatment. I explained the necessity of protein in my diet and was told to follow the discharge regardless of my GB dietary needs. Needless to say I left frustrated and a little scared. I was not able to say too much as they administered morphine while I was there. So, that's one issue. On to no. 2. A secondary problem I've encountered is my constant hair loss. I've kept up on my protein, have been taking Biotin, a supplement, and have been using Nioxin, a shampoo/conditioner/treatment to aid in hair regrowth. But, I still seem to have too much hair coming out. Is there anything else I can do??? My other largest complaint is the lack of desire to eat. Often times I get sick from looking at food and am forced to eat it anyways. I work out five times a week, two hours a day, and I know even without counting my workout, I'm not hittin my caloric needs for the day. I've tried just about everthing out there when it comes to forms of protein. I think because of this lack of calories I've plateaued and am currently trying to find a way through this. In the end, it is a lot of work, but it is totally worth it. If I hadn't done any of this I would be over 400lbs by now and getting fatter each day. So if there is help or suggestion to be had by any of you please feel free to enlighten me. Thanks in advance, Marla petersonmcee@... 2-12-03 360-220-185 RNY-Fountain Valley, CA Dr. Chin

Guest guest
Hi Marla - I'm a pre-op so I probably can't offer much real help, but I just wanted to offer some support. Sounds like you have been working very hard. I will probably have my gallbladder out during my RNY, as I already have pain and a gall stone. Will keep you in my thoughts.
