Guest guest
Hi Fay......the very letter before yours in my inbox was from Netrition.....there " deal " of the week is the Detour Bar.......they have it emphasized on there that the NET usable grams are 10....... maybe this is where the info is coming from. I am surprised GNC is doing that without having the proof in hand to give to people.......sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.......... P. BTW....have you ever tasted one......I was wondering what they were like?? Detour Bars What do you think Guys. Truth or fiction. Hi ya'll... Well I stopped in my local GNC to see if they had any detour bars in. I was told no, they were expecting a shipment soon. Then he asked me if I was diabetic or hypoglycemic. I said yes, I'm diabetic. He told me to be careful then. That another company sent the detour bar to an independant lab to be tested, ( evidently standard procedure when another companies product sells off the shelf ) and the analysis came back saying the Detour bars contained 19 grams of sugar. This isn't stoping GNC from carrying them, they are just warning people in case they can't have the sugar. His store didn't have a copy of the anaylsis yet, but another store evidently does. I don't have personal proof of this in my hands, but I just wanted everyone to be careful. Best wishes to everyone here, no matter where you are in your journe y. -- Beth

Guest guest
Ok guys! I just received my order from WLS and my Detour bars have arrived. I had to try one with this new " controversy " . LOL Anyway here are the stats on the pkg. Calories: 290 from fat: 80 Total fat: 9g ;saturated 3.5g ;cholesterol 40g ; Total carbs 21g ; dietary fiber 3g ; sugars 6g ; Protein 32g ; riboflavin .10mg ; Folate 57mcg ; B12 .75mcg ; Calcium 140mg ; iron .50mg ; phosphorus 153 mg ; sodium 480 mg ; potassium 150 mg. Here is the 800# if anyone wants it. (1-800-designer) Designer Whey).....judge for yourself. They are good. Like a soft nougat with/a little caramel and peanuts with/ chocolate coating. It is very filling so I had 1//2 for breakfast. That will do me for the day on sweet stuff. Maybe have the other half tomorrow. Jo in Yukon Detour Bars > > > What do you think Guys. Guest guest
Sheesh, peeps... This is a grad list. We all know that any protein bar that is truly good for us taste like fortified cardboard. When you find one that taste like Detour bars you know deep...deep...deep in your lil ole hearts that its a combo of lots of sugar and/or carbs. I know...I know...we REALLY want to be believe someone out there is making magic without sugar, but it just ain't so. Comeon back home... Hugs Carol G. (who is a protein bar expert for 2 years...has to live on them more then shakes while she spends her life in a car. The ones she eats she had to acquire a taste for, but praise God, it finally happened! 25 grams of protein, 3 carbs and no other nonsense like tons of palm oil, yadda yadda)

Guest guest
We discussed DETOUR bars on the DS lists about six weeks ago. There, the controversy was over the amount of protein claimed (32 g). Is it REALLY 32 g, or were they overstating it on the label (there was a counterclaim of only 20 g)? But, Designer stood by their claim of 32 g. Dumping is generally not a DS issue, so while we noted the non-negligible amount of carbs and high total calories, we were less concerned with the sugar content. I wound up ordering a box of 12 DETOUR bars from MrProtein.com ($26 and change, postage included). I found them to be OK, but they are sweetened, at least in part, with a synthetic (is it sorbitol? I forget) that leaves an aftertaste with me for a LONG time, and the only " cure " for the aftertaste is to eat more of the bar. So, I find them to be far from perfect, but a heck of a lot better for me than Almond Roca candy (my absolute fav's) which are probably 90% sugar. I carry a high-protein bar with me when I am likely to be in need of nourishment and away from a place to obtain proper nourishment conveniently. My general preference is Luna Sesame-Raisin Crisp. --Steve

Guest guest
" " MrProtein.com has them for $26.44 with free shipping, no minimum order. http://mrprotein.com/designerwheydetourbar.html So, if you buy only one box of 12 it's $27.95 total at vitalglo vs $26.44/box at MrProtein. Two boxes should be $25.45/box at vitalglo (assuming that the shipping is still only $5) vs $26.44/box at MrProtein. One thing negative that I can say is that it took about 10 days to receive my shipment from MrProtein. I purchase some things from Netrition.com.... I just ordered a box of Detour bars for $21.95 they charge a flat $4.95 shipping for any weight or anywhere.....and they get to me in 2 days !!!! Their prices are very good on protein powders too...
