Guest guest
I don't think you read the website well, it says: " The Bumper is comfortable enough to be worn all your waking hours. However, DO NOT sleep, eat or swim with the Bumper in place. The Bumper is not meant to take the place of a sports mouth guard. " I sleep with wax, have no problems with it, but I only put it on a few brackets that irritate, not on the entire braces. It's better to let your mouth toughen up a bit, but once you get cancer sores (like I do) the only way to get rid of them is wax on the bracket. Guest guest
I've never considered sleeping with the wax in would be a bad idea. I sleep with wax quite often, mostly when I have to let the inside of my mouth heal up. I'm using Brace Relief these days: http://www.infalab.com/ The strips are long enough to use all the way around if needed (which I did need out of surgery for a couple weeks), and I've never had a problem with it falling off, even when eating. In fact, I've forgotten it a couple times and brushed right over it and it only loosened it a little. Hope this helps! Guest guest
It's fine to sleep with wax in Heck, I've slept with it in. I've eaten with it in (because I forgot I had it in ) and I've accidentally started brushing my teeth with it in. It's not going to harm you if you swallow it, and if it's firmly on the bracket that is causing you trouble, I seriously doubt it'll dislodge while you're sleeping

Guest guest
Thanks, Nathalie, I did read that but figured it was probably a liability issue. It seems to me that the bumper would be less of a choking hazard than wax. In any case, I slept with lots of wax in last night and didn't have any problems. It felt so much better! > > > > What are the odds are of choking if I go to sleep tonight with gobs > of > > wax on my new braces? > > > > I hadn't tried wax till tonight because I didn't really have any > super > > sore or raw spots, but boy it sure does make my mouth feel better. > > I've decided to order the Bumper > > (https://www.morganbumper.com/index1.html), but in the meantime I'm > > worried about sleeping with wax, but almost willing to risk it for > the > > comfort. Guest guest
Jen, I got a sample of Brace Relief but haven't tried it yet. Sounds good. Thanks for the link! Guest guest
I haven't a clue about the odds, but I've never heard of it happening. I did swallow a lot of wax, and silicone, over the 20 months I was in braces, and never noticed that it bothered me a bit.
