My surgeon and his office expressed the same disbelief over my insistence

that insurance would cover my abdominoplasty. They were absolutely astounded

when I appealed the denial and eventually won. I am the first patient in 15

years to ever have this covered by insurance. I didn't consider their

attitude negative, for them it was realistic. By the way, they have since

encouraged others to pursue insurance coverage :) (Insurance did not cover

my breast lift).

I so understand how you are annoyed. My WLSurgeon refers to it as plastic

surgery, and I always correct him and say reconstructive. When I got the

letter of medical necessity the GP used the term " plastic " and I told him

please use reconstructive and to word it as reconstructive.

Even when I went to the plastics consult I told the surgeons reconstructive

every time he said plastic or Tummy Tuck. I guess we have educate them.
