Guest guest
Hey everyone, I am scheduled for my Lefort I & BSSO's on November 11th! The countdown is on for my underbite/open bite to finally be on their way out the door...just wondering (although I have gotten lots of wonderful tips from reading all the posts on here) if anyone has had this same combo of procedures and can enlighten me as far as what to expect...docs have me taking 4 weeks off work...have told me I will be tightly banded for 10 days post-op and then lighter ones for about 2 weeks after, but I'm wondering how closely my recovery will let me stick to that schedule. Any other info you have to share about recovery from this would be greatly appreciated...I want to expect the worst and hope for the best! Guest guest
Molly: I had the same procedures on Oct 7, 2004. I also was expecting the worst, but it has not been as bad as I thought. After 5 days the OS removed the bands and 2 week later I am down to wearing 2 bands at night only. I am working on opening my jaw more. I can't even keep it open for 1 minute. The visible swelling is gone, but I can tell I have some over my nose and chin where the incisions are. I would recommend getting up and walking as soon as you are able. I walked 2 times the day after surgery. Also I started using a cup when I got home from the hospital. I still having tingling and numbness in my chin and across my nose. You will do fine.
