Guest guest
that's not exactly correct.. cold is only good to curb the swelling at the early stages (first 4 days of incident)...after that, cold will have no effect... heat may help after 4 days, but it's not guaranteed... my massive swelling didn't start to subside till 3 weeks post-op.. i hope you're a bit luckier :-# > > > > Hello, > > > > I'm post ope 6 days and still have terrible swelling. Guest guest
My OS said you put ice to stop the swelling and then heat to expand the area and let it drain. > > Hello, > > I'm post ope 6 days and still have terrible swelling. Guest guest
Hi... My surgeon and ortho said cold to help reduce swelling. When the shooters start in your jaws, my ortho said to trick the nerves by putting an ice cube in a paper towel and rubbing both cheeks in circles at the same time...then put heat on them. I tried it and it worked. I had upper/lower/chin on Sept 10th and while it's not been an easy recovery by a long shot I am getting better. I still have swelling and I imagine I will for some time. The numbness drive me crazy. Right now I'm icing and then I'll use heat, exercise my mouth as it's not opening wide enough. The ice at night is for comfort, when there's changes going on in my jaws, they ache, so I ice and warm up the muscles. It seems to work for me. Hope this helps.
