I don't know what tests you'll need. If you have any particular

problems, yours may be different from mine. Matter of fact, I had a

couple of particular problems which mean that mine were different,

but anyhow...

I had an ekg, and a chest x-ray. They did a blood profile, to be sure

all was well, and that I was not anemic. At the hospital they drew

more blood for a pregnancy test. (i'm assuming here that you're male -

- if so, you won't need that one! (;~>)

Because I had a slight carotid bruit, my doc wanted a doppler

sonogram; I wouldn't expect that for you, unless you have such

troubles. But do be sure you tell your surgeon of any other side

issues you may have. (Incidentally, believe it or not, that carotid

bruit vanished after I had lower advancement. My surgeon couldn't

believe it, and said, " So now I'm doing cardiovascular surgery, too? " )

unless you're needle phobic, having blood drawn is simple. If you are

needle phobic, tell the nurse, and there are some things he or she

might be able to do to make it easier. They will not draw a lot of

blood either, at least not by comparison to the pint that is

routinely drawn for blood donations.

If you have been advised to give blood before surgery, then you will

give probably a pint at a time. But you don't mention that, and not

all docs do it. Mine did not, and I did not need it -- I also had

lower advancement, but no geneoplasty. In fact, I lost a very small

amount of blood, and my doc was amazed at how little.

Really, the tests are a piece of cake. If you've done a stint in

braces, with molds and all that accompanying stuff, the tests are

nothing.

Best,

Cammie
