Guest guest
I'm 5 weeks post surgery and last week my splint broke...yeah! I don't have to wear it anymore, just two rubber bands. Are you able to take it out to eat? I was able to remove it and the rubber bands but my mouth wouldn't open more than the width of my baby finger, now it's opening to the size of my index finger. I know the liquid diet is tough. Do you want any recipes for shakes? I feel for you as the milk based products started driving me crazy. I even went as far as to try and blend a slice of pizza (recipe in a book I have). Well, that was horrible. I did bake a potato, then put it in the oven with cheese, milk, bullion, onion powder and kind of make scalloped potatoes, blended it and it was delicious. Anything was delicious at that point. I'm still so numb that it drives me crazy but it does get better. I wish I had found this site at 12 days, good for you, there's lots of help here. Carole Anne > > I WANT TO EAT SOMETHING SOLID! Guest guest
Hi, No, I can't take it out of my mouth -- it's wired to each of my upper teeth's brackets. Accordign my my os and ortho, I ahve really really dense facial bone, so even though my teeth move slowing in ortho, my OS was able to get realy good attachment with the screws and plates. Originonally I was going to have this splint in for 6 weeks, but he's going to be able to take it out at 3 weeks instead, which is great. You can take your out? That's great -- I wish I could, at least to be able to clean it -- ugh, it's getting nasty! I'll try your baked potatoe recipe -- my other friend on thie board, , sent me a few recepies that were really good. Thanks for taking the time to talk to me! -Blake > > > > I WANT TO EAT SOMETHING SOLID! Guest guest
Hi, after you can remove it you can soak it in a denture cleaner, I did that in the morning and later in the day. My surgeon took it off after a week, then I could take it out to eat myself and rubber band it back in. I'll get some other recipes to you today. Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am 5 days post-op don't have a splint, but I have a rubber band on each side. I was able to eat a cheeseburger from Mc's and some fries. I just took the bun off and cut the meat up really small and then mash it on the roof of my mouth and swallow. It seemed a lot more feeling than a shake. I found if you can mash it up with your tongue it works. I have also tried peaches and cream oatmeal for breakfast. I hope things get better for all of you. I can't wait for next week I am suppose to start the soft diet. > > > > > > > > I WANT TO EAT SOMETHING SOLID!
