Guest guest
Hi Carol Anne, Thanks for asking. I'm doing a little better. Still sore and crabby, but yesterday I discovered teething rings! A new mother in our office suggested them, and I went to Safeway and bought two. They are perfect for chewing on and relieving the ache, even if I do feel like a big baby! :-# Yes, I will have lower advancement in a year. I have discovered something that may help explain why I am still in pain when my doctors insist I shouldn't be. I have a book on my shelf called " The Highly Sensitive Person " ; yesterday I read this in it: " My research has found that HSPs usually experience more pain. ... It is also essential that you communicate about your extra sensitivity to pain to those who can help. If they are well informed on the topic, they will take your reaction as a normal variation in human physiology and treat it appropriately. " The author explains that HSPs aren't any better or worse than anyone else -- it's just a wiring difference, probably evolutionary. When I first read the book a few years ago, I really identified with a lot of stuff in it, especially sensitivity to noise. I think I'm going to copy this chapter and mail it to my ortho and doc; maybe when it comes time for adjustments they will be a little more sympathetic. Guest guest
Hi Luna, I must be one of those Highly Sensitive People too, who is the author? If you e-mail it to your ortho, e-mail it to me too. Good idea with the teething rings, Mom's have such great ideas. Also, drink cold liquids. I drink de-caf but enjoy a starbucks cold drink, or I did before surgery soon I'll manage their rigid straws again.
