Guest guest
, I understand what you are going through. I found my surgery to be about 100 times worse than what my surgeon had explained to me. And he explained that it was going to be pretty rough. I had surgery on my upper and lower jaw on June 15. I am still somewhat swollen. I have been told that the swelling could last as long as 6 months to 1 year. The good news is that I look pretty good even though I can tell I am still a bit puffy. I love my new bite and my teeth look great. I was pretty miserable for the first month and then I slowly started to feel better. I was able to get out a bit and do more. By the second month I was pretty much back to my normal routine. I lost about 10 lbs. immediately following my surgery, however I stopped loosing after a couple of weeks. I was not eating any more than a few slimfast shakes and whatever soft food I could get down but I believe my metabolism slowed down. Hope this helps and hang in there. You'll be feeling better soon. Guest guest
Hey , I am 5 weeks post op as of today and I still have some swelling, but the most obvious is gone. I think by the end of the second week, the worst was gone. I had upper and lower, too, adn I still have slight swelling in upper, around the " apples " of the cheek and on one side of the lowere where the adjustement was bigger(plus some bone growth which is making it puffier for now). I am finding a difference every day and definitely every week I look different. I came back to work last week and when I camE in this week, my co-workers were commenting how different I look from last week. I can finally see one of my dimples again!! :0) My friend had upper and lower and is now 5 months and still finds she has slight swelling, but she is the only who who can tell. I have heard weight losses rangin from 2-20 pounds. Personally, I lost only 4, but I made sure to take in as many calories as I could. Hope this helps and good luck to you. just remember that every day really is a little easier and the first 2 weeks are the worst..good luck!
