Dear Donnie,

Thank you for your great site and updating it with daily pics.

I too am having my upper jaw widened, brought forward, lower jaw back,

possible nasal implants, cheek implants and genioplasty on Tues, Oct 26 in

Oakland, CA.

Did you have the implants or genioplasty?

You look great and your honest comments bring a smile to my face:-)

Is there anyone else out there going to Kaiser in Oakland this week for

surgery?

Take care,

Happy Autumn,

Connie

Re: Fractured Jaw

Hello,

I'm no specialist but I'll tell you what my surgeon told me. Jaw

surgery carries the risk of permanent nerve damage. I had surgery 15

days ago and my cheeks, lips, chin, gums, and nose are numb. When I

smile, it's noticably lop-sided and this is something I may have to

deal with for the rest of my life. But then again, my surgeon has

told me that I should expect most of the feeling to come back, and

hope for all of it.

As for the use of a warm compress, that's the norm. For swelling,

the first 48 hours is when a cold compress is used, after that it's

best to use warm/hot. Check out this site:

http://donnie.piratemate.com/jaw_surgery/ Go to the very bottom and

look at what I looked like 2 days post-op. I'm almost back to

normal, and the only people that notice know me. I hope this helps

you out!

Hi Connie,

Before I had the surgery, the surgeons told me that they were

considering placing implants on my cheeks under my eyes, to sort of

even out my face since my upper jaw was being brought forward, but

the " head " surgeon doesn't like to do a lot at once. I must say that

I'm in the Navy stationed at Pearl Harbor and the surgery was

performed by Army surgeons, and they decide what is or isn't done.

They also considered genioplasty but I told them I wanted as little

as possible performed. As of right now, the only thing the surgeons

are worried about is that they may have brought my upper jaw a

little to forward, but it's still to early to tell. Hope this helps

and good luck!
