Guest guest
Hi, -- I didn't do anything pre-op like breathing or extra vitamins, but I tried to do things to put myself into the right state of mind--I guess you could call them personal rituals. I tried to " play " as much as I could with my little boy and husband...I also tried to connect with my other family members and close friends, too--went out for a few " last foods " dinners and such. It was important to me to tie up loose ends and clean the house so that I wouldn't be tempted to do those things after. I also pampered myself a little...went shopping for new comfy clothes to wear home from the hospital/ around the house, bought some new facial moisturizer from Clinique (a splurge for me), got my hair cut, went to sleep early for several nights pre-op, bought stuff to make eating easier (Zip-n-Squeeze bags, protein shakes, juice, etc.), and lined up recipes for smoothies and shakes. I spent a few hours going through sites like this and others, looking for ideas that resonated with me. Thank God for the Internet! I did a lot of self-talk, too: I trust my surgeon and his experience...being done with this whole process is right around the corner...what is meant to be, will be...my husband will be with me every step of the way...laughter really is the best medicine... Overall, I found that I did better anxietywise if I focused on what would make me feel and comforted, always keeping the end in sight. I think it helped my attitude in a lot of ways. (In the past, I've been one to freak out about these kinds of things.) For me personally, having been through the " New Mommy " experience taught me a lot about what I could handle and what I needed. You'll figure it out for yourself, too. Hope some of this helps. You'll do GREAT!! Carleen > Hi guys! As my surgery date draws closer I find myself getting more > and more frightened of it. Guest guest
Hi , Check out the geocities site I created at http://www.geocities.com/orthognathicinfo/ There are lots of useful tips in the SURGERY FAQs and RECOVERY FAQs. I think there are also some surgeon's lists in the OTHER LINKS, ORTHOGNATHIC LINKS section. Good luck, you're starting early to get ready and that's a good thing. > Hi guys!
