Thanks, , MD, MPH Associate Professor UCLA Department of Family Medicine Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA Department of Family and Community Medicine FULL-TIME PROJECT DIRECTOR POSITION The UCLA Department of Family Medicine is recruiting an experienced and detail-oriented person to oversee research on depression care and health care outcomes for women and elders exposed to violence. This research is expected to inform health care policy on a national level, as well as the detection and treatment of intimate partner violence and elder mistreatment within health care settings. COMPENSATION: This is a full-time position with complete benefits. Salary ranges from $44,000 to $60,000+ per year depending on qualifications. DESCRIPTION: The Project Director will be responsible for managing research studies which seek to address health care disparities among technically diverse populations; topics include depression management, violence prevention, and elder abuse. These groundbreaking studies are expected to influence health care policy on a national level, improving the quality of care for populations who are typically underserved and lack access to adequate health care. The incumbent will: 1) direct multiple research studies under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, 2) develop and maintain professional and supportive relationships with multiple institutions state-wide and coordinate with research groups within each project; 3) help to develop a strong infrastructure and assist with the development of related projects ; 4) provide management of fieldwork, including coordination of patient interview data collection, medical record data collection, data management and analysis; 5) oversee Human Subjects applications and approvals to conduct project-related activities, and ensure that procedures for patient confidentiality , data collection and storage, and other human subjects requirements are adhered to, 6) oversee preparation of progress reports, presentations, publications, grant proposals and related documents; 6) assist with budgetary oversight and communications with federal liaisons for the project; and 7) actively participate in other core research activities, including ongoing methodological work groups and periodic discussions regarding research findings. Opportunities for publishing, as well as completing theses or dissertations are excellent. REQUIREMENTS: ü Master degree in Public Health, Sociology, Psychology, or related field preferred, ü Strong research management experience, 5+ years of relevant experience, ü Excellent oral and written communications skills and demonstrated skill and experience conducting and managing research operations. ü Familiarity with issues relating to the management of research studies, including data management and analyses, subject recruitment, quality assurance, budgetary issues, regulatory management, and dissemination of information, ü Ability to supervise and motivate administrative and professional staff, including training and delegation of tasks ü Sensitivity to issues related to intimate partner violence and other traumatic events and the ability to work with culturally diverse populations, ü Professional and/or research experience in the area of mental health preferred, ü Familiarity with qualitative research methods, ü Ability to work with SAS/SPSS programmers on data management and analysis ü Willingness to work evenings, weekends and offsite as needed, ü Oral and written fluency in Spanish language preferred.
