Guest guest
What experience have you had with your retainers? And what do they look like? Please can someone post a picture? Because I really need to pick my battles right on this one. I had the great displeasure of seeing my wire and plastic retainers last week. Both are worse than the wire and plastic retainer I had over 15 years ago. They're both bigger and more obvious. They're difficult to get in and out, they look industrial, theres NO space for my tongue (have to keep my mouth open all the time-and after surgery, I just got to liking being able to close it right!), they dig into my gums, and there are metal prongs that end right on top of my fillings! The dentist thinks this is normal--just the way they make them. I find it all very very hard to believe. Grrrrrr! I can only wear one of the retainers for a couple hours at a time becasue it presses on my mouth so tightly and painfully it turns the tissue white. That isnt right at all. The other retainer is still at the dentist becasue they screwed it up so badly it pops off as soon as you get it on. I cant believe those were made for me in 2004. I hate my lousy orthodontist who either honestly thinks his work is acceptable or who thinks I am too stupid to know different! I may have to find another place to make retainers for me that I can actually wear. Does anyone have advice or an estiamte of how much that costs?
