Should I try to gain weight before my surgery?

I'm 15 and about 5'7 " , 120lbs. My parents keep telling me I have to

gain weight before my surgery (I have about 7 weeks). I really don't

want to because I have a strong feeling that I'm not gonna lose that

much. Can anyone here tell me how much weight you lost during

recovery so I can figure out if I truely have to gain weight or not?
