I had my last pre-op visit with my OS today and I brought up my

concern with overcorrection. He says not to worry, and that any

overcorrection that may happen will be less than 1mm, if it happens at

all, and easily treatable with orthodontics. And, he'll be monitoring

my progress closely to make sure nothing is uncomfortable.

I also found out that I will only be loosely banded with no splint

when I come out, with 4 bands, one on each of my eye teeth, and one on

each of my second to last molars in the back. I should be able to

open my mouth about a quarter inch with these on. If all goes well,

I'll only be banded like this for a week, and then I'll be even more

loosely banded with the potential to open almost a full inch,

depending on how my muscles feel.

Then, on my next Orthodontist visit, I'll get tighter orthodontic

bands to pull my molars together -- they will not connect after the

surgery. I'll have about a 2mm gap between my upper and lower teeth

to fill back there, but he says that should only take a couple weeks

to fill. He showed me on the models of my teeth how it will fit, it

doesn't look that bad, so hopefully it won't hurt too much -- not

holding my breath on that one though. ;)

I don't have exact measurments yet, but he's estimating that I'll have

my lower jaw moved 9mm forward. I knew it was bad, but I had no idea

it was that far back!! Overall he's very optimistic that I'll have an

easy recovery, and that I'll be back to work after only one week (with

the first few days being half days). And, he also said definately get

out and ride the golf cart with my Mom on day 4. :)

It's only one week away now, and I'm getting *very* nervous. I can't

wait to get this done and over with!
