Shirley, if the surgeon wants to do a conservative procedure on your

turbinates(ie: submucosal resection or cautery) this would be a good

time because your nose will be stuffed up anyway for at least a few

days. while i don't agree with agressive procedures I didn't have the

faith in my surgeon to cauterize my turbinates when he did my maxilla.

I now have an ENT that I trust and will get his opinion on the best

route to procede. If you have confidence in your surgeon I'd

definately consider getting it all over with at the same time. As far

as being lactose intollerant I can't help you there as I survived the

first couple of weeks on yogurt smoothies and creamed soups.(tomato

with basil was my fave!) Last time I was in the healthfood store i did

see a Rhino multienzyme supplement that looked promissing. I think it

had protease, amalaise, and lactase enzymes which would help with the

digstion of just about anything. Good choice on the flu shot as I had

to postpone my surgery for two weeks when I got the flu. good luck

and let us know how you progress. eric

Shirley, I agree with here. I would make sure the surgeon is

conservative with any sinus surgery. You want a reduction in your

turbinates through sub resection or low level cautery. This

preserves the mucosa of the turbinate which allows it to still

provide moisture and humidification while not getting in the way of

your breathing. Any removal of tissue like a turbinectomy can cause

dryness or other problems that you cannot reverse.
