Molly,

Congrats on having such a successful surgery! I will be having a

similar surgery in awhile (upper pallate expansion, upper jaw

forward, lower jaw back, realigning my midline). Why did your OS

decide you needed genioplasty? I'm a little confused as to what

that is actually for because I've heard of people with recessive

chins and with dominant chins having genioplasty. I would be

interested in seeing your before and after pictures. Will you be

posting any to show your results? Thanks!

Molly,

Sounds like you are doing great at 8 days! I distinctly remember

breaking down and crying on my 8th day. I was sooo hungry and had

fixed some oatmeal and blended the oats prior to cooking, but when I

cooked the powdered oats, they clumped back together. Anyway, I got

a lot on me, but not much in me. The next day was the breaking

point in my swelling. I came down just enough that I could eat a

little easier. I am now at 10 1/2 weeks and eating solid food.

I understand what you mean about not blending food. I just couldn't

do it either. I drank alot of those Yoplait Breakfast Smoothies.

They are fortified like the Ensure and have lots of fiber. Thats

important when you can't chew and your not getting salads, grains,

etc.

I lost about 20lbs, but it goes back on pretty quickly when you

start eating again.

After surgery, I had the little " baby " bumps like new borns get all

over my chin. I looked so bad anyway that I didn't care, but now

they are gone. If your skin is dry, I would use a good lotion. It

can't hurt.

I hope you continue to do as well as you are now. Keep us posted on

your progress or questions, cause you will have a bunch of them.
