Guest guest
For those that are recently out of surgery, how are you coping with the upcoming food-centric holidays? I just had my second upper/lower surgery on Nov. 9, and I'm really bummed that I may not even get to eat mashed food by next Thursday (I see my OS on Tuesday). My husband has been so wonderful and understanding, so he expects nothing food-wise for Thanksgiving, but I guess had my second surgery not been expected, it wouldn't be such a psychological blow for me. As far as my recovery is concerned, I am very tightly banded and absolutely loathing the liquid diet. I have been living off of drinkable yogurt, juices, whole chocolate milk, milkshakes, and blended broccoli and cheese soup. My swelling has really gone down, and my joint pain that had reduced me to tears and kept me from eating and sleeping has finally subsided. (I had NEVER experienced jaw pain even before either surgeries.) I have had nothing to chew since October 4, and I'm SO HUNGRY!
