surgery cost ???

Hi all,

I've had braces on for 15 months. It is now time to find the

surgeon. I have no insurance ... am paying for it all out of

pocket, so total cost will figure big in my choice of surgeon.

I have a Class II overbite, so will have the lower jaw lengthened.

One year ago the consulting surgeon said there also is a 50-50

chance that the top jaw would need to be moved and widened,

depending on how it looks after a year of braces. A decision on the

top jaw will be made after they take the molds this time around and

play with the models.

Can people give me an idea of what total cost is for jaw surgery and

how many days one might expect to be in hospital? Is out-patient

surgery a possibility?

One year ago, the price quote (from a University hospital in the

Eastern US) was " $12,500 if it's one jaw, $25,000 if it is two. "
