Hi

If you mean the " iatrogenic epidemic " then yeah, I'm familiar. I'd avoid places

like that chat room and get some good medical professionals that you can

trust and communicate with. Remember, no question is too stupid to ask your

docs and if they ever give you the feeling you are asking stupid questions,

leave and find someone else. You are the patient, you have the right to be

informed.

Many people of varying ages have had orthognathic work done, and I think 44

is young. :)

Good luck with your visit!

^_^

I had surgery at 56, almost 57 -- so you're a young chick!

I was not wired, nor even banded -- but that depends on what your

surgeon thinks works best for him. I had a really easy recovery. Some

folks have a tougher time. This is all highly individual, and again,

depends on what surgery you're having.

Some folks have joint problems before, but not after surgery. Some

have no joint problems before, but some after. In short, it depends

on what's going on with your joints, whether they're damaged already

and how they react to the changed pressures that go along with the

surgery.

Fiddlesticks has a geocities site (look in the links) that has

faqs for surgeons...

Good wishes to you,

Cammie

Hi :)

I started on all this a little over a year ago. Finally got my upper

braces this past November and lower this past April (I think)... and

I'm 41 :) I'll be either 42 or 43 when I finally have my surgery

(upper, lower, and genio)
