Overbite surgery

Hello - I'm meeting with an oral surgeon today regarding jaw surgery

for my overbite. I'm 44 years old and am about to embark on braces,

then surgery, then braces again. I must admit that I'm quite anxious

about it all. I've been doing a bit of research on the web and came

across a chat room where they were talking about the risks involved,

ie what they call iatrogeny - I think something horrible to do with

the joints in the jaw - and there is no remedy but more surgery. Has

anybody heard any horror stories like this. Also, anyone my age

going through the surgery - I wonder if I'm a little old to be

embarking on this now. How bad is the recovery, does everyone have

to be wired? I will be asking the surgeon these questions today but

if anyone can let me know of further questions to ask, I'd be really

grateful.

Thanks for your help.
