Guest guest
Hi. I've never had to pay a separate fee for retainers (yet) but I don't think the clear ones are anywhere near that costly. A friend's daughter lost hers, and I believe the replacement fee was about $100. Of course, the ortho had her molds, but presumably your doc has some from you, too. Why not at least call the office and ask, if that's what you want so much? Warning: The clear ones are not all dreamy, either. Mine do make my teeth sore, particularly if I leave 'em out for a couple of hours (I'm sposed to be wearing them 14 hours a day, and try to be religious about that.) They also snag my tongue sometimes, which isn't pleasant. My dentist saw the rough places and said they're not dangerous. But a sore tongue is just one more thing to put up with. It isn't sore all the time, at least. Cammie > > I dont know what to tell you about whats normal but I have similar > problems. My retainers dont fit at all. Guest guest
I have a horrible recurring dream of having a mouthful of broken plastic that I'm trying to spit out... no matter how many chunks of plastic I get out there's always more. But honestly I think my experience with my clear upper retainer has been a cakewalk compared to the stories here. I wore it for 12 hours a day the first year, and now I just wear them while sleeping - about 8 hours. I have no soreness or discomfort (besides the annoying dream and the overall annoying feeling of having a chunk of plastic in your mouth). I don't soak mine - just a quick once over each morning with my sonicare. I also think a replacement retainer is around $100-$200 or so. The first one was free, but I'd have to pay for any others. --Neil > > > > I dont know what to tell you about whats normal but I have similar > > problems. My retainers dont fit at all. Guest guest
I'm glad to hear that something in this process has been easy for you, Neil! I don't have a chunk of plastic dream -- but I still sometimes dream that I have an ever growing wad of bubblegum like glop in my mouth, and no matter what I try to do, I can't stop it. Yuck!
