Guest guest
Hi Just read your post about the flakes. My skin has been like this for 13 years. I kid you not. When I sought the help of a derm in 1989, I had this what I called " surface dehydration " My skin was not really dry nor is it oily and I have these flakes. Nothing gets rid of them. I have tried and all I end up with is an irritated face. Guess it must be rosacea. But how in heck do you deal with it. The redness I can cover, the burning I can ignore but how the heck do you deal with skin like this. It is really not that noticeable like you said until you try to use a mositurizer. IF anyone has this, please, please let us know how you cope with it. Is it real dryness? Even though the skin undeneath is not rough to the touch?? It seems that even the heaviest oils ( like the Sy ones or emu ) cannot alleviate it. I am sure that Bidget is most anxious as well. Thanks all suggestions gratefully appreciated. dryness or seb? > > I thought I'd try and put on some make up today as my skin has been ok recently (been off work) and was going out so thought perhaps I would try an insie bit of something on my face. > > Oh my goodness I used a little foundation and as I put it on all these flakes appeared and the stuff wouldn't move from the spot I put it on. It just sunk into my skin. I can't work out if the flakes were already there but trying to rub this stuff in caused them to break loose. Any how I have washed and washed my face to try and get this stuff off (I used to use this stuff every day for years and used to go on my skin like velvet, I wasn't ecpecting the same result but..). I just can't work out if this is infact a dry form of seb derm or just another inflammatry reaction caused by the route of all evil, rosacea. > > The flakiness resides mainly down the sides of my face, cheeks, forehead and nasolabial folds. If I gently scrape any part of my face though, flakes appear. > > > > > > > > > --------------------------------- > Get a bigger mailbox -- choose a size that fits your needs. > > http://uk.docs.yahoo.com/mail_storage.html > >

Guest guest
I have the same problem. I've read (here, I think) that a good test for seb dermatitis is to rub the flakes between your fingers tosee if the flakes are oily. Also, they appear yellowish in color? First, is that true? My flakes are completely dry and I have them on my cheeks and forehead. Mosturizing seems to reduce the flakes, but I've been afraid to use any mosturizers recently. bidget jones wrote: I thought I'd try and put on some make up today as my skin has been ok recently (been off work) and was going out so thought perhaps I would try an insie bit of something on my face. Guest guest
My face did the flake thing also. I now put my foundation on a damp face or else it won't go on without the flakes. I have slightly oily skin in the t-zone but my foundation will not go on smoothly unless my face is damp. I cannot use moisturizers I get more flakes and more oil. dryness or seb? > > > > > > I thought I'd try and put on some make up today as my skin has been ok > recently (been off work) and was going out so thought perhaps I would try an > insie bit of something on my face. > > > > Oh my goodness I used a little foundation and as I put it on all these > flakes appeared and the stuff wouldn't move from the spot I put it on.
