Guest guest
Hi, Your doctor is not well informed about MLD therapy. I was the first person here to investigate it for my recovery and it worked well for me. Another patient of my surgeon also went to the same therapist and had equally good results (he also saw her after some knee surgery, I think). If you check out my pictures on site 2 (you have to join that site to view the photos), I have a photo of me the day I was released from hospital and after my 1st post-op MLD session. There's info about MLD therapy on the geocities info website I set up as well at http://www.geocities.com/orthognathicinfo which will help to explain what it does, along with links to the Vodder Institute to find a therapist in your area. It's a therapy that can be used for any type of swelling, with causes ranging from bee stings to lymph node removal (breast cancer patients) to orthognathic surgery, you name it, wherever there is swelling involved. I have a friend who had breast cancer surgery & radiation and whose hands completely puffed up and were in pain. She started seeing my therapist and got immediate results as well. She's also wondering why more surgeons don't know about this type of treatment. It may help to put things in perspective if you consider that your surgeon is the expert on bone-cutting, not on patient recovery - that's where we can help : ) Hope that helps, > > I asked my OS about MLD yesderday and he told me it would not do any > good because he is cutting into bone and it may work with soft > tissue surgery, but not for bone cutting surgery. Guest guest
, Thanks for your help. I do have an appointment with a MLD therapist a week before my surgery and I plan to make another appointment 5 days after the surgery. My OS told me if I found someone who could reduce the swelling he would send everyone to them. > > > > I asked my OS about MLD yesderday and he told me it would not do > any > > good because he is cutting into bone and it may work with soft > > tissue surgery, but not for bone cutting surgery. Guest guest
Many mainstream Doctors do not believe in MLD. But stop to ask your self, Is it the bone that swells? or the soft tissue around the bone that suffers a lot of trauma from this procedure? I had MLD therapy before and after and I feel that it helped tremendously with the swelling and bruising. My surgeon was very surprised at how little swelling I had. Guest guest
Hi , I'm glad to hear your surgeon is at least open to the suggestion! > > > > > > I asked my OS about MLD yesderday and he told me it would not do > > any > > > good because he is cutting into bone and it may work with soft > > > tissue surgery, but not for bone cutting surgery. Guest guest
And I might add that although my surgeon didn't know anything about it, either -- or at least didn't recommend it, the hospital in my home town has just discovered it, and actually included in its newsletter the info that one of its physical therapists has been trained in the techniques. They mentioned it principally in the context of recovery from mastectomies, as well.
