Hello

I've begain speaking to Ortho and an OS. I'm pretty nervous about the

whole idea of having surgery. I just found out couple of months ago

that my bite could only be fixed by surgery. I have what my dentist

called a severe class III underbite, I've always had problems with

eating lipsing and sometimes pain and ringing in my ears, never

thought it had to do with my bite. I'm happy with the way I look and

really just like to get the health problems fixed with out changing

my over all look to much. It scares me to think that I've been

looking at this face for 27 years and after surgery could be looking

at a different person. My orthodontist came highy recommened by my

dentist and the OS I've seen so far. I feel confident with him and

know he has experience with preparing people for this surgery. I've

meet with one OS so far who told me my surgery is medically necessary

he has 30 years experience as an OS and said he has done many of

these surgerys, also he said I would need upper and lower jaw surgery

done. Should I speak with other doctors, how do I pick a surgeon? I

live in northern Virginia outside of DC and there are alot of doctors

in this area. Insurance concerns me there is no way I can afford

this without coverage, the braces are bad enough but I can deal with

the $5200 hundred. I have Carefirst BCBS PPO plan any experience

dealing with insurance companys will be great. It feels great that

this group is here, and there are people that are willing to share

their experince, strength and hope with others. Thank you all and god

bless.
