Guest guest
I dealt with the around the neck and over the head headgears, this lip bumper thingy that I still have no idea what it was for, and hyrax. All this and now 4 years later I am slated for surgery on upper and lower summer 05. And surgery was never even mentioned during all of this...uggghhh....ohh well everything happens for a reason right???? > > In the line of discussion about unpleasant adolescent > orthodontic experiences I couldn't help but remember the > headgear experience. Guest guest
I too wore headgear, but as a child. Initially I wore it 24/7, then it was reduced to just at night. Heck, my teeth were so bad I had my braces put on the last day of 2nd grade and didn't get them off completely until HS. And now, 20 years later, history seems to be repeating itself (with the braces anyway )

Guest guest
I didn't, but I asked my ortho at the first session with him whether it would be needed. He said, " We don't use headgear with adults. " Then after surgery, when I went back for my first appointment, the assistant who was working on me said, as a " joke, " " Now you get the headgear. " I didn't panic, but I didn't think it was very funny, either. Cammie
