If you think you might need to have some hardware removed, you

should discuss it with your surgeon. If you wait too long the bone

may fuse to the screws making it difficult and intrusive to remove

the fixture. At 3 months post-op my OS said " sure, we can remove the

hardware if you want " . I didn't do it as I was still recovering, but

at 1 year post-op when I raised the issue seriously he said " it's

not a good idea at this point " .
