Guest guest
How do, Miz Livia? I am cammie, also in alabama, at the lower end. I had surgery in 2002, at the grand old age of 56, almost 57, and fared well. my ortho got the predictions right on the money, but I think that's pretty unusual. Whether you'll be ready for your daughter's marriage depends a lot on what happens -- in more ways than orthodontically! But you know what? All eyes will be on the bride, and I'd wager that nobody's gonna care (except you!) what you have in your mouth. Talk with your docs about your schedules, but know that it's guesstimates at best. As for seeing the surgeon: i saw mine one time, a year plus before surgery. Then once again, when I was ready (he used my ortho's moulds), and the night before the op, for him to do a test fit on the splint. Then the next morning. I think how often you see them can depend a lot on the relationship between your ortho and your surgeon. Mine have worked together forever, and I swear they think the same thoughts on the subject of occlusion. Cammie > Hi everyone. I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Livia and I am 54 and living in Alabama. I have had my braces on since right before Thanksgiving (2003) and was told at the time it would be 8-12 months and then I'd be ready for surgery. My orthodontist said last month that he thinks it'll be 4-6 more months before my teeth are ready, so now I'm thinking January or February. From reading the other posts, having your surgery pushed forward doesn't sound all that uncommon. I only hope I'm OK for my daughter's wedding in May of '05. The OD says I'll be in braces probably around a year after surgery too. Maybe he was just being overly cautious, I hope it's not really that long. > I've only talked to the Oral Surgeon one time and that was before I even got my braces on. Should I be going to see him also? I figured I'd wait until the OD told me to. What have y'all done? >
