I do occasionally find the Kosher ones with coconut on them around certain holidays, but I can never find a steady supply, and my vegetarian children will no longer eat marshmallows. Guest guest
Oh, I know. My son is an avid vegetarian and has an entire litany on foods that are evil. No jello or anything containing gelatin. (His favorite cereal was once Lucky Charms, now they are evil.) No Twinkies or other Hostess products (labels say the shortening can be anything from lard to beef fat to vegetable shortening, but you never know which). Only gum that is kosher, as most gums contain " softeners " that are animal-product based. I had to draw the line at the eggs. He wants only farm-raised nested chickens to lay his eggs (and preferable we'd need to go to the farm itself). At $3 a dozen for nested, compared to under $1 a dozen at the commissary, well, finances won out... We tried Tofurky at Thanksgiving. No one was impressed (not even the 2 vegetarians). ~~ Lyn G > better not give your kids Jell-O, either. Guest guest
ugh, I don't give them Jell-O... always felt that was a weird food... Could never deal with that stuff either. My brothers loved it and my mom would make it all the time. My kids like it, but since I don't, I don't make it. : ) Now knowing what I do, I won't ever be making it again. Yuck.
