Guest guest
In the line of discussion about unpleasant adolescent orthodontic experiences I couldn't help but remember the headgear experience. Just like the tongue thrust thing, nothing was explained to me, just all of a sudden one day, I'm " prepped " for headgear by having my back molar bands changed to ones with side tubes that would allow for the headgear attachment. I was thirteen years old and absolutely terrified that I was expected to look completely ridiculous wearing that contraption. I only wore it in the evenings and at night for about eight months and who knows if that was sufficient to do anything. Must not have been, since I later had braces again and surgery as an adult. But I bet we could share some old stories here about headgears.
