Hi -my name is EJ and I will be 10 years post op this September

16th, I had an open RNY with a 40 " common channel, I was revised and

transected in 95 due to SLD from taking Toradol after many plastics.

I am 5'8 " and weigh 130 lbs. I have been stable for a long long time

and have no problem maintaining my weight. However, I stay out of

the junk unless I want to put on a few pounds. I do at least 150

grams of whey protein shakes each and every day-I use Stack and

ProScore-chocolate of course-mixed equally. The foods that I eat are

high lean proteins. When I do eat carbs, I eat small amounts of

fruit and veg's. I rarely eat pasta, rice or potatoes. I would

rather fill up on protein. I love beans but the gas kills me! I eat

about 4-6 very small meals a day. I have managed to keep my pouch

small by eating small amounts and doing my shakes. If I get hungry

and start craving sugar, I do a protein bar, I carry them in my puse,

my briefcase, keep them in my beside table, at my desk, my car, etc.

Even on vacation I do my shakes every day and always bring a supply

of protein bars with me. Remember this is only a tool not a cure and

you need to stay compliant to control the weight. I don't think of

it as a diet, it is a way of life. One of my motto's is " Nothing

tastes as good as being thin and healthy feels " , I live by that!

Also, by eating this way, keeps my dump-o-meter working. My husband

does the weight watchers diet and it works for him and I pretty much

eat the same way-I am 51 and he is 53-we want to stay trim and

healthy for many many years to come.

My advice to you is get back on track with the protein shakes and

foods, stop the junk and move that body!

Good luck

EJ Reece

8.5 yrs here, and no, I've never gone back to my former way of eating in

full. If I did, I'd get my former body back with it.

I keep with the formula that lost the wt. Change the formula, change the

result, is my thinking

Hi ,

I'll be 10 yrs out next month on the 17th. I have had no problem maintaining

my weight. At about 18 months PO, I actually got too thin and had to work to

get it back up. My starting weight was 256lbs and I went down to 117lbs. I'm

5' 6 " . Now, I am right at 130lbs. I did have abdominplasty in February which

took off 2lbs and that has stayed off. I wear an 8 or medium.

My way of eating has never changed since having WLS. I eat only small

amounts. I prefer my proteins first. The thought of sugar or candy does not

appeal to me. I avoid pasta, rice and most bread. Not all bread but only in

very small quantities. Having surgery has changed my wants as well. I have

cravings for healthy foods. The tool has taught me to eat right or suffer

consequenses.

I did try maxing out on proteins to see what it would do. No problems...I

lost in only one week...I think it was like 6lbs. Can't remember. It came

back slowly because I allowed it to. My body likes where it is at and has

stayed here.

<<I am considering going back on a " diet " ......anyone have experience with

this?>>

Ooh me...me!! I know the answer to this one!!

DS surgery on 6/19/00. If I eat like a big healthy person, I maintain my weight

(2,000 - 2,500 calories daily); if I eat like a pig, I gain weight (2,500 -

3,500). If I actively diet (1,500), I lose weight. It's verrrrrrry difficult

for me to diet for a long period of time, so I find I start out gung ho, lose

quickly, stop dieting, gain a bit back, modify the diet plan, and then lose

slowly.
