Tests + SLD Question

I have a few questions but each one is on a different subject so I

am going to send 3 or 4 emails to keep them separate and keep the

replies separate. It seems when people send long emails, all of the

questions don't get answered probably because of the length of the

email. Apologies in advance for the extra emails.

Outside of the regular blood work, are there any other tests that

proximal RNY'ers need other than the bone scan? I am doing the

blood work regularly and am going to get the bone scan done later.

Is there anything else I need to keep an eye on?

Also, I know this is going to sound dumber than dumb but I am

transected and assume that I cannot get a Staple line disruption

because of the transection. I specifically made sure with my

surgeon in advance to see if he transected because I had heard so

much about SLD and wanted to avoid it. I have seen some posts

around that indicate I could have SLD even though I had been

transected. ?? Is this true?

OK, you slid 2 questions in there.

The only other test that's been done unto me is calcium related.

" pee-in-the-jug test " . Not unpleasant, just confining. If your serum

calcium & dexascans are fine, then you probably would not need to do this.

Personally, it appears that I can take calcium every 5 minutes and it will

go out the other way. That is patently unfair. LOL! But that is being

treated.

********

You would not have SLD in the same sense of the word that us originally

non-transected types would. No. BUT there is the fistula issue. I have not

had one, but there are 3-4-5 people on this list who have.
