BSSO - tongue question??? HELP

Hi all... it has been a really long time since i've posted so i will

give you a quick run down. I had a class III underbite, had BSSO in

August 2003, replapsed in November 2003, had second BSSO in March

2004. I am 6 months post-op on 9/30 and bite is perfect and had my

braces off last week and retainers put in. I went to ortho today

because my retainer causing discomfort and been having some problems.

My ortho noticed when closing my mouth, my tongue is to large for my

mouth and its causing some problems. He stated i might need to have

my tongue " clipped " for the headaches, tension and for the retainers

to fit correctly. I have an appointment with my Surgeon on 10/8 to

discuss this and schedule plate removal due to infections.

So my question is, has anyone heard about tongue being clipped after

class III has been corrected? I am a little nervous about it. Plus

how didnt anyone catch this during my 2 years of hell, i've always

complained of the headaches, tension and other muscle discomfort.

So if any of you could help it would be greatly appriciated. Thank you
