Marsha, sorry to hear about the tmj pain. I don't know abut the 1%

thing. tmj issues are one of the complications possible for this

procedure. the tmj is a ball and socket kinda joint consisting of the

condyle(ball) and fossa(socket). the two are seperated by a piece of

cartilage to prevent bone on bone. when the lower jaw is moved forward

it stretches the muscles which in turn pulls the condyle back into the

fossa sometimes displacing the cartilege. most people just have a

little pain until the muscles stretch out. for a better understanding

check out the following link:

hope things get better and and you can continue the road to recovery.

remember, that burger is just around the corner! eric

Well, I see the link I posted comes in handy! Perhaps someone can put

it under the link-section for me since I have no clue how to do this,

and obviously it's a link that more people find useful. I found the

part about posture very informative and that was the reason I had

posted it a few weeks back, but there is more info to find besides

posture.

Meanwhile Marsha, you are in pain and that is terrible. But I am sure

your second surgery will fix everything. I have also not been able to

open very wide (although I never have been able to, even before the

surgery) but I have not been in such pains. I must say that I have

continously had to wear 1 elastic on both sides (orthodontist told

me) and in one way or another I feel that this is support. I am 11

weeks post-op tomorrow.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Wow Miz , thanks so much, it feels like it's my birthday with

your " your wish is my command " ...oh wait it is my birthday today!

What a coincidence! I am going to save my birthday dinner for

september 4th, that day my expander is finally coming out and I can

finally eat comfortably in a restaurant, without making slurping

sounds, making a mess out of things and spending 1 hour in the

restaurant bathroom cleaning... :-) I can't wait!
