Hi everyone,

About donating blood. I, too, was told after my wls in 1993 never to donate

blood again. Well, about 8 years post op, after glowing labs " forever " , I

donated based on someone else's professional opinion-and guess what? My

iron plummeted. My conclusion is that, even if your doctor said it is

ok-don't. We have it tough enough to keep our nutritional levels up where

they belong. Find another way to volunteer your support-volunteer a few

hours at the blood bank or some other cause, like a local health fair. You

will be just as appreciated. Also, I recommend considering becoming an

organ donor if you have not already done so. My driver's license is clearly

marked by the DMV to that effect, so there will be no mistake.

Just my opinion.
