Guest guest
Hi everyone, I thought I would share my experience to see if anyone else has experience something similar. I was diagnosed with rosacea in 1992. I had the redness, frequent blushing, and pimples. I was only 22. It was somewhat controlled with metrogel and oral antibiotics. I decided to do Pulse Dye Laser treatment to help with the blotchy redness. Dr. Bitter's office preformed the procedure. The pain and swelling was unbelievable. However, the worst part was that no one warned me hyperpigmentation could occur. I got it badly. I was devastated. He prescribed some bleaching cream, which was a terrible idea...Now instead of pigment I got a terrible itchy, painful rash. I was put on oral steroids and topical and eventually after 3 weeks it went away. The worst was still to come. This whole process was extremely stressful, therefore my blushing and heat sensitivity was terrible. One night I started getting deep pain in my face. The next morning my face was swollen and edematous. The doctors had never seen anything like it. I could not smile and make folds in my face it was so swollen. I couldn't open my mouth to eat. No one knew if this was related to the laser? to the rosacea flaring up? RSD (a nerve dysfunction)? an autoimmune disease? Over months it got gradually better...although my face never quite returned to its slim form and still have pain sometimes. Any ideas?
