I was told the body takes 8 weeks to rebuild or replace the blood/cells whatever. I was tested at 8 weeks and I was normal. Unfortunately, I've been taking just carbonyl iron since then (1 month) and was retested, and my iron levels are low again. Not as low as they were but they are lower. I'm going to up my dosage, and probably ask the dr. for a prescription supplement, from what I've read on these groups it sounds like prenatal iron supplements are the way to go. I wish you well, how may infusions will you get? Who are you seeing for this? I was seeing a hematologist. Liz

Guest guest
Get your iron pills from www.vitalady.com (a special kind for those who lack the intrinsic factor--they are tiny) and take them on an empty stomach with vit C.....be sure your B12 levels are at least in the mid-normal range....you need a B12 shot every month--and maybe sooner if your levels are down. Good luck to you. in Nebraska
