I avoid having the tops of my breads split open by cutting a shallow

slice into the top of the bread before baking. That sort of determines

how/where the bread will split. The best results I've had is to cut a

line length wise down the bread about 1/2 inch in from both sides of the

pan. It doesn't have to be a very deep cut. To prevent holes in the

bread, preheat your oven for at least 10 minutes before baking. I've

been doing both steps with good results. Hope this helps.

My nutritionist said that we aren't to eat white bread but that we should have a

slice of low fat wheat bread occasionally..

Why isn't she worried about carbs?
