Good luck with your surgery! I had my lower advancement 13 days ago

and it really wasn't all that bad. The first day or two afterward

are a little rough, but I'm sure you'll do great and after that it

gets much better real quickly!

It was posponed till next Wednesday the 15th, for sure (I'm told).

Mount Sinai, Toronto, the teaching hospital for the University of

Toronto, good group. They are moving the jaw forward at least one

centimeter and the chin another half cm. So altogether over 1/2

inch. Is that alot or not? Don't know. No mention of genioplasty

as well, not sure about that one. I get to eat normal for another

week, haha.

Take care,

Hey ,

I had my surgery across the street at TGH just over 2 years ago

(upper/lower/genio). Who's your surgeon?

Genioplasty is the chin movement (I had mine reduced and advanced,

upper impacted, lower jaw advanced).

My sister lives in Whitby, I assume that's where you're from. Just

wanted to say hi!

First, of course, you have the wishes in your pocket. OOK. You got no

pockets in a surgery outfit, but you have the wishes, anyhow. They're

hovering somewhere overhead.

Second.

That's pretty much movement, I think, although I'm not excellent at

metrics. Biggest movement I know was 20 mm. total. (5 mm., my doc

said, is a quarter of an inch.)

You are, no doubt, better at the math than am I. I'm figuring that 10

mm is 1 cm, but I may be way off. (It could be 100 instead. I'm

sorry. I plead innumerability and insanity.)

And I don't think it's a matter of a cumulative total. In other

words, they do the jaw advancement by one measurement; the chin is a

totally different (and often cosmetic) procedure -- not that the

other stuff can't be cosmetic, too. But you don't add two and two to

get a total advancement of four, if you get my drift. (Moving the

chin, my friend, IS genioplasty.)

In any case, I'd wager your docs know their stuff, and hope you will

have an easy ride.
