, there is nothing wrong with being 'obstinate' about your health. Just be

glad that you are one of the ones who didn't get talked into this on first

visit, with your next visit being to the guy with the leaded apron.

I wish I could remember where I heard this, but the nuclear people who dispense

and work around those meds die at younger ages than they should. I'd love to

see the backup on this statement but I'm brain dead and can't remember where i

heard it so I can't claim it's 100% true. I just know I was talking with

somebody in the medical field (I think). I really hate being brain dead

sometimes. Too much stress lately! lol

Sandy

Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to write to me. I am still reading the

emails.

I have taken seriously all the advice I've received and read most of the

websites that were suggested and one thing has stuck, there is NO WAYS I am

EVER putting foot near the Nuclear Medicine room. I refuse point blank to

have any RAI treatment. My eyes are still slightly swollen underneath at the

sides, it's obvious I have slight TED.

This decision may seem rather obstinate but I believe that I do have other

options open to me. The physician poo-pooed the idea of ATDs by saying it

was too " hit and miss " and now I am nervous that he is being far too hasty

in suggesting RAI in 2 weeks time.

I will go to my GP tomorrow and tell him my decision. He was not the one who

suggested RAI (although he warned me that it could be the outcome), it was

the physician and the Nuclear Doctor who suggested it. I need my GP to back

me up and to help me control this problem. I trust him, he knows his stuff.

MY GP diagnosed me as having GD within about 2 minutes and when he took my

blood to be tested he muttered " it's a waste of money but it has to be done

for confirmation " .

I beat Bell's Palsy because from the outset I was determined that I was

going to be one of the lucky ones who were over it within 2 weeks. I think I

beat the record, I was over it in 4 days because of my positive attitude and

I will try it again with this GD thing.

Once again many thanks to all those who wrote, you have help tremendously.

btw, I live in Cape Town, South Africa

Furthermore, how do I deal with all of this emotionally? I am already

a wreck. I tried to imagine being by myself last night (he was doing

laundry and I was at home alone) but I dont think my mind actually

grasped the full meaning of being alone.

I guess I am rambling. Thanks again and hugs to all.

I am not a therapist.. but have left an abusive spouse....

The emotional healing doesn't really begin until you cut the ties physically

and move on.

It was only AFTER I left and began the next phase of my life that I was able

to heal and think more clearly.. and mourn and begin to move on.

I don't believe that being " alone " is a bad thing. There are an equal amount

of Single moms vs Partnered moms... and I am sure you can find a local

support/mommy group of other single moms.

Or even start your own!

Once baby comes.. who has time for the man anyway... :)

Hello!

I just wanted to post a big THANK YOU to everyone! I've been a

silent observer for quite a while now. I went through surgery this

summer (early June)--upper (moving things up ~3mm), lower (10mm

advancement) and genio. I felt really prepared, thanks to all of

the invaluable information I got from this group. And the zip-n-

squeeze bags were life savers! The surgery went very well and I'm

*extremely* happy with the results. It has been life changing.

Thanks again! And those not yet through surgery, best of luck! :o)
