colonoscopy?

What I mean is, I just had one to get all my tests for the surgery, and there

were 3 polyps found. One in the sigmoid, but the others were other places

(cecum and transverse if that means anything to anyone). If I have future

polyps will those be accessible for removal by a colonoscopy after the DS?

Sheryl: I don't think presence of polyps puts you at any future risk after

the DS, etc. I had a colonoscopy performed before the surgery (not as a

pre-op test but due to colon cramping) and they removed one (noncancerous)

polyp. I asked Dr. Gagner about this and he said that and my spastic colon

would not have any contraindication to the DS surgery.

I'm sure that one can have a colonoscopy post-op... I did read where one

person experienced significant pain because of adhesions that formed around

her colon post-surgically. They had to complete the exam with an upper GI

series, I think. I don't think there's any way to predict this --- I don't

think it's every case that adhesions in the colon would make a colonoscopy

painful, etc. but it is a possibility. I know of another friend who had a

post-op colonoscopy and didn't experience any such difficulties...

I have to go for a retest later this year. Fun. I'll know then!

Susiecue, Glad to hear that yuor face is getting better. I know LU had a

problem with her salivary gland and they had to do something for it. She

was in the hospital for a long time... You might want to check with her on

that. I think she waited to long to go to the dr. though. Sure sounds like

you have a great one. I HOPE YOU continue to get better and can EAT lots of

good stuff tomorrow. LOL Keep those hot compresses coming.

Know I'm thinking of you and hope you have a Merry Christmas.

Just wanted you to know that Fred had his Colonoscopy last week. I got a copy

of the procedure from the doctor. They gave him MAC anesthesia. There was no

evidence of polyp or tumor, but the colon does appear to be redundant. When

I talked to the doctor after the procedure he said he wasn't sure if it was

from the MSA or not.
