Guest guest
I was wondering if anyone has used the Easy Does It for Apraxia - Preschool books? Do you think they helped? I have a 2 1/2yr old and was wondering if I should get these to work with him. Thanks
Guest guest
I have the book but it is a lot of table-top activity-type workbook work and my son isn't sitting still for that type of thing yet. I do like the cueing that they have as part of their program, though. > > I was wondering if anyone has used the Easy Does It for Apraxia - > Preschool books? Do you think they helped? Guest guest
I bought both books for my son's private and preschool speech therapist to use as well as the Kaufman Apraxia cards. He started at age 3 and completed the series at age 6. He did not start kindergarten until he turned 6. (august birthday) Apraxia needs constant repetition and these books had a playful theme so he was interested for the 20 minutes the ST needed to keep him focused. It is a slow, long process, but you should see some improvement within 2-3 months. I also supplemented with Coromega and included an occupational therapist in his IEP to work on his motor planning issues which in hindsight was the missing link to improve his global apraxia. I noticed his verbal apraxia, but there were other hidden areas that were affected too. Good luck, Joanne
Guest guest
I have these and will have to get them out again. When I first got them my son was not making any sounds and was refusing to try. Now I think he is ready! They have some good activities to do with your child and even list words that may be easier to try. I think it is worth trying out. It also has checklists that you can use to keep track of progress and sounds you hear. -------------- Original message -------------- From: " c3dem27 " <c3dem@...> I was wondering if anyone has used the Easy Does It for Apraxia - Preschool books? Guest guest
I bought this for my preschooler when he was 2. He is now a little over 3. I don't use it every day but do use it to supplement when my SLP is out of town, during school district breaks (winter, spring, summer) or if we are on vacation. My son has only just gotten the hang of cutting so until then I had to cut the things out for him. Now I use it as a fine motor activity as well as a speech lesson. Before using it on long breaks and such I ask his SLP what sounds we should be working on specifically and then I use the books to help target those sound. I'll also use it in conjunction with any homeork the SLP give us during those breaks. This way I know we won't run out of things to do for practice. I can't say for sure that it has helped but it does give me an extra way to practice at home/away with my son without too much guidance from an SLP. Hope this helps. --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search.
