Guest guest
A few days ago someone had asked why we shouldn't take ephedra (ma huang). I did reply. Just a few minutes ago I heard on the news about the young athlete in Fla who died of heat stroke (on an 80-degree day with 75% humidity, his body temp was 108 degrees), and the m.e. thinks it may be related to his taking diet pills containing ephedra, to lose weight. So, to high blood pressure, heart attack, arrhymythia, stroke, and heart palpitations, apparently we can add the possibility of contributing to heat stroke to the reasons NOT to take this herb. Please remember, all, that just bcuz something may be sold in a " health food store " or be an herb or natural or organic--that doesn't necessarily make it healthy--or even safe.
